Privacy Policy

अंतिम अपडेट · 21 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Shrutam (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Shrutam learning app and website (the “Service”). It is designed to align with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).

1. Who this applies to

Shrutam is a K-12 learning service used by students, and by parents or guardians on behalf of students. Because many of our users are children (under 18), we take additional care with their data as required by the DPDP Act.

2. Information we collect

  • Account & profile: name, phone number or email (for sign-in), board, class, section, medium, school, and city/state.
  • Learning activity:topics studied, practice attempts and scores, streaks, goals, notes you upload, and chats with our tutor “Saavi”.
  • Voice (when you use voice features): audio you speak to Saavi is processed to understand your question and generate a reply. We use it to provide the feature; we do not sell it.
  • Device & technical: app/version, basic device info, and logs needed for security, abuse-prevention, and reliability.

3. How we use information

  • To provide and personalise learning (show your board/class content, track progress).
  • To run features like Saavi tutoring, courses, notes, and family/linked-student views.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To communicate important account or service messages.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use student data for advertising.

4. Children’s data & parental consent

For users under 18, the DPDP Act requires verifiable parental/guardian consent and prohibits tracking, behavioural monitoring for advertising, and targeted ads directed at children. We do not run advertising. A parent or guardian can manage or delete a linked child’s account from the “अपना” (Profile) section.

5. Sharing & processors

We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service (for example, cloud hosting, authentication, and AI model providers that power Saavi and content translation), under agreements that limit their use to providing the service to us. We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service or as required by law. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where retention is legally required.

7. Your rights

  • Access & portability: download your data (अपना → Download my data).
  • Correction: edit your profile at any time.
  • Erasure: delete your account and data (अपना → Danger zone).
  • Grievance: contact us using the details below; we respond within statutory timelines.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (encrypted transport, access controls, session protection). No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you of significant incidents as required by law.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in-app or by other reasonable means. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version.

10. Contact & Grievance Officer

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact our Grievance Officer at support@shrutam.ai.

Note: This policy is provided as a clear, good-faith summary of our practices and should be reviewed by legal counsel before commercial launch.
